They had actually talked to her before and the girl recognized them even though she only saw their eyes. They were wearing all masks.
They wanted to just give her the money and leave but then she started crying. She was out picking through recycling bins for plastic bottles she could sell. She had her cats with her.
She is a very sweet girl. She told the couple that she doesn't want them to go broke helping her. She hadn't seen a lot of money before so in her young mind, she thought they would go broke by giving her $100. When asked if she was there by herself if she had friends, she said no because no one wanted to be her friends. Her mother told her that it's because she picks through the garbage.
The couple told her that it's not her fault and they brought her to a nearby convenience store. Before they even went in, she told them that she's very happy they were helping her. No one else helps them. She originally only wanted to buy a bag of rice for her mother. But they got her everything she needed and wanted. She even pick out the cheapest option out of everything she needed.
She got her cats food as well. Her cats usually eat their scraps but she was thinking of them before herself. They got her some treats she was looking at but didn't dare to touch. She asked them if they could get her mother some medicine as well and they said yes. So they went to a pharmacy.
When she saw her mother she was so happy and ran over. She was so excited to show her mother everything the kind tourists had gotten her. The tourists speak their language so it wasn't hard to communicate. The mother was very grateful.
Her mother said that the girl is very helpful. When she isn't feeling well due to her sickness, the girl would cook, clean, for the family.
When asked if the girl was going to school she said that she's thinking of giving her daughter up temporarily to orphanages. The kind that keeps children temporarily for parents who can no longer care for them. Some children stay their entire childhood there. She cried upon hearing it. She doesn't want to go. She wants to stay with her mother even if it means she couldn't go to school and has to live in poverty.
The man told her that they're her friends, (she said they're her first friends), and as friends, they'll never let it happen to her.
The next time they meet, she seems happy. She was wearing a long dress. It seems they got her a phone too. It appears that they may still be homeless but at least they are doing relatively okay. She doesn't looked to be starving.
She's a sweet girl very understanding and caring. Always thinking of others. Either that's the tourists' wallet, her mother, her cats, everyone else before herself. Let's hope she can go back to school and escape poverty while stay with her mother.
