This week at Domaine Sauvage, we’re quite desperately waiting for the injectors to arrive for the dumper. With a bit of luck, they’ll finally be the key to getting it running properly. But as always, there’s never a shortage of jobs on the property. No rest for the wicked!
We’re at a stage now where what we do really depends on what shows up on our path. So while we wait, Philippe kicks off the week by tackling the brambles again, keeping them from reclaiming the cleared areas.
Then we shift focus to two little buildings just behind the main house. One of them is getting a new purpose as our firewood storage for winter. It’s right behind the house, and since there’s a back door that opens into the hallway, getting wood for the stove will be just a few steps away. Practical is the new priority, especially with a baby on the way.
The second building is the old bread oven, possibly from the 17th century. You may remember it from last summer, when Philippe’s brother-in-law Ruben did an amazing job clearing away the ivy and brambles growing between the stones. This week, we continue what he started and little by little, more of its history reveals itself.
Thanks for being here with us!
