In this series called ‘Europe’s most underrated cities’ I’m going to show you Europe’s most underrated cities… Starting in… Rīga! The capital of Latvia and the city where I discovered my passion for traveling.
That’s because I was fortunate enough to do my Erasmus exchange there when I was 21. I had Sweden and Belgium as my first and second choice, but knowing what I know now, I was extremely lucky to be sent to Latvia.
At the time I was a bit skeptic though. I thought: “Latvia… is that country even safe?” Well, as safe as you’re gonna get in Europe it turned out.
And it wasn’t just safe, Rīga was beautiful, alive, and affordable! I had such a great time in there that I never pass on the opportunity to use my platform to promote Rīga.
And not only Rīga, Latvia has an abundance of cool places to discover. Those you might see in later parts of this series.
