⚠️ Raw pirate radio pressure straight from the capital! This 1998 session on Rude FM features DJ Excess rolling out heavy jungle and drum & bass pressure while MCs Wiley and @EKSMAN bring absolute lyrical heat to the mic. This is a slice of UK underground history—Wiley before grime, Eksman on a mad one, and Rude FM in full flex!

🎧 What to expect: Relentless amen breaks, deep subs, tight blends from Excess, with @EKSMAN riding the riddims like a vet and Wiley dropping early bars before his grime takeover. Authentic London jungle sound, no filters, no fluff.

👊 Who it's for: Jungle lifers, drum & bass heads, MC lovers, and those into pirate radio culture or Wiley’s early musical roots. If you breathe oldskool London rave culture, this is for you.

🔥 Why you need this in your life: This session captures the energy and innovation of UK jungle at its best. It’s rare, it’s real, and it shows how jungle laid the groundwork for grime. If you’re building a true history of UK underground music, this is essential listening.

MC Eksman, real name Kevin Forrester, is the brother of Remarc. Started MCing in 1996, and has since then won several awards, among them "Best Lyrical MC" at Accelerated Culture's Drum n Bass Awards in 2004 and "Best Newcomer" at Knowledge Magazine in 2003.

Rude FM was established in the early 90s around 92/93 on London's FM dial on 104.3 frequency. It started playing Hardcore Jungle music before the sound developed it what is known as the Drum & Bass. It featured some of the scene's most celebrated DJs, MCs, producers and artists.

It was celebrated as one of the top three DNB pirate radio stations of it's era, showcasing the likes of: DJs: Smokey Joe (Smokester), DJ Facs, DJ Dylan, DJ Sly, DJ Choppa D (The Clairvoyants / SBR (Spectral Band Replication)), DJ XS, DJ Lix, DJ Chillem (Chillum), DJ Agent K, DJ Little Jon, DJ Lady Siras (Lady Cyrus), DJ Fuse, DJ Overdrive, DJ Lady Flava, DJ Devastate, DJ E, DJ System, DJ Haze, DJ Wagner, DJ Lady Wipeout, DJ Vibestein, DJ General Sparks, DJ Ricky Red Eye, DJ Shocker T, DJ Stylee, DJ BFG, DJ Frogger, DJ Nicam, DJ Terry Tee (Knowledge & Wisdom Records), DJ Rollin' Mat, DJ Tubby, plus many more.

MCs: MC Evil B (B-Live), MC Eksman, MC Herbzie, MC Twist & MC Hot Rocks, MC Speedee (Speedy), MC Pedro, MC Penfold, MC Cisco, MC Manic Mouse, MC SLS, MC Rudie, MC Ranking, MC KP, MC Sparky, MC Shaydee, MC Kray Z B, MC Blacka, MC Smiley, MC Trouble (RIP), MC Lok-i (aka Jamaican English), MC Rizla, MC Little T, MC Fuse, MC Excellent, MC Ringo, MC Cisco, MC Jookie, MC Marvel and many more.

In 1998 there was a schism because of a rift between the management. Fugi (Fugitive) who was part of the management took the name Rude FM and set up on the 88.2FM dial taking many of the DJs and MCs whilst Chillum (Chill'em) and Lady Cyrus continued to manage the newly styled Ruud Awakening FM on 104.3. It continued to have some of the old guard but attracted new MCs and DJs to the station.

It continued to have some of the old guard but attracted new MCs and DJs to the station. It is fair to say 104.3 got the better end of the deal because they kept the dial and their connection to rave nights like Desire which were run by 2000AD Productions. Also running their own rave night 'Ruud Nation' @ The Dungeons (Lea Bridge Rd) on Sat 28th Jun 2001.
They also hosted Arena 4 of "One Nation" @Brixton Academy, on Sat 7th Sept 2002.

By the early 2000s Ruud Awakening would go off air and this allowed new emerging pirate radio stations like Origin FM 95.2 to snap up all the remaining talent on to their books.
