Andrea Bocelli, a highly successful blind opera singer from Italy, achieved a Top 10 hit in 1998 with his duet "Time To Say Goodbye" alongside Sarah Brightman. Bocelli was born with glaucoma and became completely blind at a young age after an unfortunate incident during a soccer game. From an early age, he was captivated by the passion and storytelling of opera and the rich Italian musical traditions. Discovered at the age of 34 by Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli has sold over 75 million records worldwide. Pavarotti once remarked that "there is no voice more beautiful than Bocelli's." "Caruso" is a song written by the Italian singer-songwriter Lucio Dalla in 1986, dedicated to the legendary Italian tenor Enrico Caruso. The inspiration behind the song came to Dalla during a journey when his boat broke down between Sorrento and Capri. He was invited by friends to stay overnight at a hotel, which happened to be the same place where Enrico Caruso spent his last days, the Vesuvio Hotel. Dalla decided to stay in Sorrento for several days to delve deeper into the life of the great tenor. Caruso was born into a poor family in Naples and became famous not only for his voice but also for his tumultuous relationships, particularly with married women in the performing arts. Shortly before his death, Caruso married Dorothy Park Benjamin, a woman 20 years his junior, with whom he had a daughter named Gloria. Lucio Dalla references this relationship in "Caruso”. After Dalla's death, the song climbed the Italian Singles Chart, reaching the number two spot for two consecutive weeks. The song has been covered by numerous artists, including Luciano Pavarotti, Julio Iglesias, Laura Pausini, Mina, Al Bano, Josh Groban, Il Divo, Helmut Lotti, Lara Fabian, and Il Volo. The Dutch singer André Hazes adapted the song into Dutch, releasing it as "Nu jij hier niet meer bent." This live version of Andrea Bocelli was taped for Dutch TV program “Cor & Co” on October 14, 1996.
