On 10 September 1998, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed was interviewed by ITN's Tom Bradby as she visited flood victims in the national capital of Dhaka. Appealing for international aid, Hasina dismissed criticism that she had acted too slowly in making the appeal. "In any calamities, first we should try ourself to face it. If we cannot... then only we can ask for foreign aid."
