Bob Dylan had a great influence on the Beatles' songwriting. The Beatles discovered Bob Dylan during their three-week residency in Paris in early 1964. A French DJ gave Paul a copy of Dylan’s second album Freewheelin’.
John’s quoted as saying, "This was the first time I ever heard Dylan, for the rest of our three weeks in Paris we didn’t stop playing it. We all went potty on Dylan".
John was the most influenced by Dylan's songwriting, having his own "Dylan period"
