Love SLOW-FAST-SLOW practice. Often an overlooked method in my experience - but a brilliant way, alongside steady tempo practice, to develop your rudiments, accents, coordinated grooves etc. Just about anything on the drum IMO.
Start slow and accurate, work up to the edge of your comfort zone - but at a tempo you can still maintain - hold it there for a short while and then work it back down again.
Here, as an example, I’m using it to work up a “Bo Diddley”-style accent pattern within a single stroke roll, notation and practice-along groovescribe version here (channel members):
Have fun and please let me know if any questions,

Mike Barnes Drums Amazon Shop
I now have an Amazon store featuring all the gear, books etc you see here in these videos, and that I use myself on gigs/in the studio and recommend. It doesn’t cost any more to buy from this store than it does from regular Amazon, but you’d be supporting this channel by doing so, which would be very much appreciated!:
