The Casa Del Rey, a century-old Moorish-style apartment building in Pontiac’s historic Seminole Hills district, is getting a long-awaited revival! Developers Coleman Allen LLC have officially broken ground on a $15.5 million transformation, set to bring 50 affordable housing units to Pontiac by early 2026.

Designed by renowned architect Robert O’Derrick and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Casa Del Rey will be restored to its original grandeur while addressing Pontiac’s need for quality affordable housing. Led by Gregory and Ronita Coleman, Pontiac natives and General Motors executives, this redevelopment is more than just a housing project—it’s a symbol of resilience, community, and historic preservation.

With support from MSHDA, MEDC, Cinnaire, IFF, the Oakland County Land Bank Authority, and the City of Pontiac, the project will blend historic preservation with modern energy efficiency, creating a space where families can grow and thrive.
