Over the last year, Homies has evolved into a global platform—capturing over 60 performances, uplifting Black, Brown, queer, and emerging artists, and fostering community across 10+ cities. But behind the scenes? A team of 4 Black and Brown talented creatives led by me, jena së kwa. And you know what? It’s been hard. Really hard.
For the last year, I've invested ~$20K into our production and have yet to see a return on investment. In this video, I’m speaking candidly about where we are, what’s been weighing heavily, and what we need to keep going which is ~$5k to cover our team’s compensation for the month of May.
This isn’t about polish—it’s about people. It’s about the heart behind the brand, the community behind the camera, and the truth that even dreamers hit breaking points.
