However, following the Met Police calling for a YouTube ban on many UK Drill music videos – and with artists A-M and Skengdo being issued suspended sentences for performing a Drill song – the issue was thrust into mainstream conversation. This culminated in a debate in Parliament where artists Krept & Konan spoke alongside drill artists against a potential ban on the genre.

Sub_Terrain takes deep dives into pockets of the underground music scene, unearthing the stories and timelines beneath the genres that shape contemporary culture. For Episode 4 of the series, we join music journalist and BIMM Institute alumnus Punit Kavia for his take on the UK Drill censorship issue.
