In this mix, Danniella showcases some of her favourite uses of vocal harmonies from across the Reggae spectrum. A beautiful yet often melancholy feature of many records, she believes they capture both an undercurrent of mournfulness woven through Jamaica's history, as well as the vibrant, musically-inclined spirit of the island and its people.

Over the last few years, Coventry-native selector, artist & music producer Danniella Dee, has risen to become a respected torchbearer of the Reggae music legacy in the UK. Armed with a killer record collection, soulful voice and captivating stage presence, she sets out to inspire a new generation through her powerful vessels of music curation & creation.

The musical seeds were planted after hearing her father Trevor 'E.T. Rockers' Evans playing records while growing up. He founded Coventry's first sound system - Jah Baddis - in the 70s, before DJ'ing for 2-Tone band The Specials. But it wasn't until she heard the likes of soundsystem legends Jah Shaka & Channel One that she was inspired enough to begin record collecting herself. She carries on her father's legacy now both solo and as a co-founder of Sisters In Dub - the pioneering women-led Reggae/Dub sound system collective. She’s a resident selector on Balamii radio and has played a string of notable sessions - including Boomtown, Secret Garden Party, We Out Here & Jazz Cafe.

Also a recording artist, Danniella released her debut EP 'Reflections' in summer 2023 -fusing together soul, hip-hop, and choral elements. After gracing multiple BBC introducing stages in 2022 & 2023, she's now working to weave her love for Reggae/Dub into her upcoming releases - aiming to connect with diverse audiences by creating music that stands the test of time.
