Watch in HD!!! Here's a video of me playing 'Degenerate' by Monuments. This is probably my favorite song to play with the group live. The energy just doesn't really stop from first down beat to last... And there are some really punchy sections in this song as well.
I joined Monuments towards the end of the summer, maybe around August/September. Everything I've played with Monuments has been one-off festival and show dates... I still haven't really had a chance to soak in the songs compared to when you go on tour and play the same songs every night for an entire month straight. So Im still trying to embellish all of the parts to see what works best for my self as well as the rest of the band.
Regardless, Im really glad I took on the challenge of joining Monuments. The rest of the guys in the band are used having a drummer who can stick inside the 'pocket' all throughout the set, which brings me to my next point. Mike Malyan is an absolutely amazing drummer and musician, and picking up where he left off is definitely tough. I remember seeing Monuments before I was in the band, and I remember how tight and in sync the entire sound was... Im still learning how to deliver a similar energy live, but its all a learning curve. None the less, joining the band has and will continue to make me a better drummer and musician.
I plan on uploading more videos for Monuments songs in the near future.
