When measuring a nation's success, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has long been the standard metric. However, GDP only captures economic output—it doesn’t reflect quality of life, happiness, or societal well-being. Alternative rankings, like the Better Life Index (BLI), consider factors like healthcare, education, income equality, social trust, and work-life balance.
Denmark consistently ranks among the world’s happiest countries. While its GDP is high, its well-being scores are even higher due to free healthcare and education, a robust work-life balance, and strong social trust as evidenced by the practice of leaving babies out to nap outside of shops.
