What came first, the Ape or the Apeist? Ok folks, it's up to you to decide, but we here at Cinefear say The Bloody Ape (1997) was the true inspiration for Big Bang Theory's Serial Apeist. The Bloody Ape was shot in 1993. It was edited and released on video in 1997. The original trailer has been on the Cinefear website since 2000. In 2008 the Bloody Ape hit DVD in a Super Simian Edition, and has been on the market since. We believe the writers over at the Big Bang Theory certainly laid their eyes on our infamous trailer, and even more so on the Wildeye publicity which states "400 Pounds of Fury Hungry for Female Flesh". And lo and behold, suddenly the Big Bang Theory has Penny appearing topless in a shower while a gorilla attacks her. Coincidence, we think not. And in order to prove our point, we have put their trailer back to back with our trailer. Hence, we want you to be the judge. Did Big Bang Theory rip off (or pay tribute to) The Bloody Ape? Personally, we feel that you'll get much more of a BANG out of our film, rather than their fictitious film, but that's for you to decide.
