PC Trevor Lock, the Metropolitan Police Officer awarded for his bravery during the 1980 Iranian embassy siege, has died aged 85. One of 26 hostages taken when Iranian dissidents stormed the Iranian embassy on 30 April 1980, Lock played a crucial role in the six-day siege, negotiating with the gunmen and looking after his fellow hostages. During the dramatic SAS raid that ended the stand-off, Lock tackled one of the gunmen, saving the life of an SAS soldier. ITN interviewed Lock in February the next year. Seated beside his wife, Doreen, Lock shared memories of several hair-raising moments during the ordeal. He also told ITN's Derek Taylor that thoughts of his home and family had given him strength throughout his six days in captivity.
