Over the past few weeks, we've been dividing our time between two big projects: restoring the old Thwaites dumper and preparing our vegetable garden. The dumper is getting closer to being fully operational, and the fencing around the garden is now complete. With the compost beds in place, it’s finally time to get everything planted.
In this episode, we take you through the full process of bringing the veggie garden to life. From planting melons, cucumbers, beans and potatoes to reusing old materials for support structures, we're slowly turning this new garden spot into something we hope will feed us in the months to come. While one crop didn’t germinate as hoped, most are off to a promising start.
We also take a moment to reflect on a personal milestone: it’s been two years since we arrived here in France and started this journey. A lot has changed since then, and this week we’re sharing something we’ve been meaning to for a while and it's pretty big for us!
Philippe gives an update on the dumper project and why it’s not in this week’s footage, and we set up another robot mower the LUBA Yuka Mini to help keep the paths between the raised beds clear and accessible. Odin helps out with compost and cardboard, and we’re all excited about the season ahead and what the garden might bring.
