He used to be human, but went insane out of blind rage and hatred... resulting in him taking the lives of his friends and family. He also joined an underground cult which practiced the Satanic arts, and made a deal with the Devil to gain ultimate power. Unfortunately The Devil would only give him this "power" if he sacrificed his humanity, and would have to live with a hideous curse for the rest of his life.He accepted this offer and became the monster he is today.
Destiny finds him to be a worthy asset in her plan against the Spirit Warriors. She approaches him and asks him to destroy them. Banika is willing to destroy anyone, even her. He does not bow down to anyone.. not even a goddess.
