Medically Known as alopecia.
Alopecia has many types.
Most common is alopecia areata.
Hair follicle is the place where hair grows.
Alopecia areata, When loss that occurs when your immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicle.
Alopecia can be temporary or permanent.
Experts do not know why the immune system attacks the follicles ?.

Alopecia or hair loss can occur in other parts of the body.
It can affect people of all ages.
Women and men are affected equally.
What happens in alopecia areata ?
Alopecia areata usually begins when clumps of hair fall out. It results in totally smooth round hairless patches on the scalp or other areas of the body.
In some cases the hair may become thinner without noticeable patches or baldness or it may grow and break off leaving short stubs.
In rare cases complete loss of scalp hair and body hair occurs.
The hair loss often comes and goes.Hair will grow back over several months in some area but will fall out in another area.
Causes of hair loss
Stressful conditions or surgery.
Long-term fever.
Hormonal imbalances like thyroid.
Drug treatments, like cancer therapy.
Nutritional deficiencies.
Environmental alterations, like day-length.
Childbirth.
