One of the defining guitarists of the 90's was Jerry Cantrell. His guitar work defined the unique grungy sound of Alice in Chains, and he was the group's main lyricist.Degradation Trip is his second solo album and was originally released in 2002. On the album, Cantrell enlisted drummer Mike Bordin (Faith No More) and bassist Robert Trujillo (Metallica) for some grungy heaviness. The album was dedicated to Alice in Chains lead singer Layne Staley, who sadly died two months prior to this release in 2002.
Degradation Trip featured the two singles "Anger Rising" and "Angel Eyes", and was well received by critics bearing strong resemblance to his work in Alice in Chains.
