2000s–2025 West London Broken Beats, NuJazz, Soulful UK Garage, Soulful house, and Bruk. West London, from Notting Hill to Acton, has been a mecca for multicultural Broken Beat sounds since the 2000s, blending broken beat, nu-jazz, soul, and UK sounds. We will sidestep the heavy electronic production and lean into live instrumentation, the sounds of Dego, Kaidi, Bugz, 4 Hero, Seiji and all their undercover Pseudonyms with warm basslines, neo-soul keys and vocal-driven tracks that echo the area’s DIY spirit and Carnival legacy.

With his acclaimed album Inner Light, a dynamic blend of soulful house, global grooves, and funky broken beat, WheelUP (aka Danny Wheeler) marks a powerful evolution—both sonically and spiritually. Rooted in the heart of the bruk scene, he has earned a well-deserved legacy for his polished productions and mastery of the distinctive ‘West London Sound.’ As an artist, producer, and DJ of dual Zimbabwean and British heritage, Danny’s upbringing in this vibrant musical epicentre naturally shaped his deep connection to broken beat while inspiring him to push creative boundaries across genres in his latest work.

WheelUP has energised renowned venues and festivals like Hootananny Brixton, Shambala, Lost Village, Glastonbury, and Worldwide Sète. As a DJ, he’s headlined Spiritland and Café 1001, with appearances at Brick Lane Jazz Festival, Worldwide Festival, and support slots for Groove Armada at KOKO. Through his club night ‘WheelUP Presents,’ he’s showcased broken beat icons such as Jamz Supernova and Ben Hauke. A former Balamii resident, he’s also delivered standout mixes for Mellotron, Defected, and Steeze Factory, where he co-founded the SameSame night with Drifty.
