Walking into Pyongyang's Sunan International Airport, I was immediately struck by its grand, immaculate design. The hall was massive, sparkling clean, and eerily empty – as if the entire airport had been prepared just to welcome our flight. Bright LED screens showcased stunning landscapes of North Korea, while rows of pristine blue chairs sat unoccupied, waiting for passengers who weren’t there.
The space was dotted with souvenir shops and immaculately maintained restaurants, all ready for visitors, yet our tour group seemed to be the only ones here, aside from the staff. It’s an impressive sight and leaves you wondering if this airport’s grandeur is meant to leave visitors with a carefully curated first impression of the country.
The surreal atmosphere made this moment unforgettable – it’s unlike any airport experience I’ve ever had. Stay tuned for more insights and experiences from my trip to North Korea!
