NASA tests their Space Shuttle solid rocket boosters, burning over half a million gallons of fuel to produce the force needed to launch astronauts into space. During these tests, the hot exhaust releases large amounts of water vapor into the air. When this vapor rises and cools, it forms clouds—just like steam turning into mist. If the air is humid enough, these clouds can grow heavy and release rain.
