In the classic approach to recording a song, a band or a group of studio musicians would play together in the studio until they captured a magic (or at least workable) performance.
Even if the only thing that was kept from the tracking session was the drums, and everything else was replaced, you are still building a track based on a human who was performing along with other humans. You can’t very easily remove the foundational drum take from the track and replace it with something else!
