In Welsh mythology Mabon ("young man" or "divine son"), often referred to as Mabon ap Modron (Mabon son of Modron) is a god of youth, hunting, vegetation and crops.
He is the son of Modron and Mellt.
The name Mabon derives from the Celtic god Maponos.
Mabon is also one of the eight Sabbats celebrated on the autumn equinox.
The holiday is a celebration of thanksgiving for the fruits of the earth and emphasizes the need to share them with others to ensure the blessing of the god and goddess during the winter months.
