This is a couple car review comparison of the Honda Civic Hatchback VS the Toyota Corolla Hatchback. At a time when consumers are buying Utility vehicles, why not consider a hatchback. Two great options are the Civic and the Corolla. Both vehicles are affordable, easy to drive and are great forms of transportation. The Honda Civic Hatchback comes with a 1.5L turbocharged 4 cylinder engine with a CVT. The base model has 174 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque. The Sport and Sport Touring trims have 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. There is a new Civic coming soon, it should be available this summer. The Toyota Corolla Hatchback on the other hand, has a 2L 4 cylinder engine also matched with a CVT, it has 168 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. The Civic is longer and wider, but sits a bit lower than the Corolla. Both come standard with LED taillights and 16” wheels. 18” wheels are available on higher trims. The Special Edition top trim on the Corolla, which we tested, has a real sporty look to it with a black grille, black roof spoiler, black door handles and side mirrors. It also has fog lamps and LED headlights along with heated exterior mirrors. As for the Civic, we tested the Sport Touring trim, which comes with LED headlights, LED fog lights, a shark fin antenna, folding door mirrors, a body coloured rear roofline spoiler and power windows for the driver and passenger. The Corolla Hatchback comes standard with an 8” touchscreen; the Civic on the other hand offers a 7” touchscreen. It is best to move up one trim from the base model on the Corolla to the SE trim to get extra features like heated front seats, Apple Carplay & Android Auto, leather wrapped steering wheel and shifter, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. As for the Civic, the base model comes with quite a few standard features including, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, heated front seats and lane keeping assist. If you want blind spot monitoring and a sunroof, you have to move up to the Sport Trim. A sunroof is not even offered at all on the Corolla.
