Six-year-old Joshlin Smith vanished on February 19, 2024. While the search ramped up, her mother Kelly seemed unusually calm. Soon, it came out that Kelly had sold Joshlin to a healer for 20,000 Rand ($1,000), hoping to profit from her daughter’s green eyes and light skin.

After a friend testified against Kelly, police uncovered the dark truth. Kelly, her boyfriend, and others were arrested for trafficking. They all face the possibility of life behind bars.
