Some folks claim Take Him To The Hospital was just a song.
Others say Willie Redbone walked in lookin’ like he hadn’t slept in three nights, scribbled these lyrics on a diner receipt, and told the band:
“Play it like the heartbreak got an EKG.”
He ain’t Redbone, but tell him that—he’ll just pour another drink and say:
“I’m Redbone enough when the lights go low.”

This track was cut live in 1972, no retakes, no safety net.
We filed it under The Trouble I’m In and prayed nobody else would ever feel it this deep.
