
Florence Foster Jenkins was a real person who became famous for her passion for opera, despite her poor singing ability. Her infamous 1944 Carnegie Hall concert sold out, attended by a mix of supporters and people curious to hear her perform.
To play Florence, Meryl Streep had to "learn" to sing badly. Although Streep is a trained singer, she had to practice singing off-key, which she found more challenging than singing correctly.
