The S.S. Badger car ferry based in Ludington, Michigan makes the trip across to Manitowoc, Wisconsin and back daily. The 410-foot ferry was built in 1952 and is now a National Historic Landmark. The Badger can carry 600 passengers and 180 automobiles in a single trip across the lake and does it in about 4 hours.
