The Rainbow Pride Flag we know today is an iconic symbol of the LGBTQ+ community, but where did it come from? Well the history of the pride flag starts in San Francisco in the late 1970s. The original pride flags were flown in the 1978 Gay Freedom Day Parade, and were the work of Faeire Argyle Rainbow, Gilbert Baker, and James McNamara. Fun fact, the original pride flags actually had 8 stripes instead of 6.
