Bound since birth, a prisoner is chained so their limbs, body, and neck are unmoveable. Behind them, a fire, which casts shadows on the wall in front of the prisoner, of the people and objects moving in front of the fire. The prisoner has only known these shadows. These shadows are their reality. One day, a being not of the shadows came to the prisoner. The being, seeing the confusion and fright in the prisoner, came back with a piece of broken glass, and held it up to the prisoner's face. The prioner saw that the reflection resembled the being. The being then unshackled the prisoner, and the prisoner was limp for some time, their body unused to the new freedom they felt. The being pointed to an opening behind where the prisoner was shackled. The prisoner refused to move, in shock by the situation. The comfort of their life was disrupted by this being. The being appeared frightened and ran towards the opening, leaving the prisoner behind. The prisoner heard noises coming from the distance; surely what had frightened the being. The prisoner became frightened as well. They managed to get up, and they made their way towards the opening, unsure of what would become of themself if they stayed in the cave. A blinding light came from the end of the opening; the prisoner's eyes were not used to such light. The light became progressively more blinding as they approached. Eventually, the light was so bright in all directions, they had to close their eyes for a moment. Slowly, the light became less fierce, eyes slowly adjusting to the new light. The prisoner opened their eyes, in awe of what they saw before them...
