In late 2023, as Nicki Minaj's album Pink Friday 2 approached its release date, Barbz (Nicki stans) created the viral trend 'Gag City' to promote Nicki's new music. The fans quickly developed Gag City into an expansive pink fictional world by welcoming celebrities to the metropolis and even some large brands, like Spotify, began to set up shop in this stan twitter mystical world.
