Retrospective showing highlights and events of 1963 (library compilation story).

Various shots of frozen rivers, sheep on snowy fields, ice-trapped sheep freed by two men, car struggles along along snow-covered road (harsh winter of 1963). Several shots of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip on their tour of Fiji, being driven along in an open car and drinking Kava in a special ceremony.

At Cape Canaveral, Florida, we see the rocket taking off containing cosmonaut Gordon Cooper. Sailors on ship at sea look through binoculars to try and spot capsule. Capsule in the sea. Gordon smiling after his return to earth. Girl cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova and male counterpart Colonel Bykovsky walk from a plane at Moscow airport to a platform where they are embraced by Nikita Khrushchev.

At Tufton Court (in London?) we see Sir Winston Churchill arriving at his daughter Mary's residence with his wife, Clementine, who's birthday it is today. Shots of Henley Regatta in very wet weather - river bank very muddy. A girl walks between marquees in bare feet. University College rowing team beat Americans of Cornel. Shots of football match between England and Rest of the World for Football Association centenary. Slow motion of Jimmy Greaves scoring winning goal

Shots of hovercraft SRN 2 at inauguration of Bristol Channel ferry service between Weston-Super-Mare and Penarth near Cardiff. Hovercraft moves out to sea. At Rome we see Pope John lying in state at the Vatican. The new pontiff, Archbishop of Milan, is seen in open air ceremony where he is crowned Pope Paul VI. At Westminster Cathedral we see John Carmel Heenan enthroned as Archbishop of Westminster (he looks very nice).

Exterior of Aldwych Theatre, London. King Paul and Queen Frederika of Greece arrive, accompanied by Queen Elizabeth and others of the royal family. Demonstrators with placards outside the theatre demand the release of Greek political prisoners. Shots of the funeral of Hugh Gaitskill at a church in Hampstead. General view of the Kremlin. Labour Party leader Harold Wilson is seen shaking hands with Khrushchev. Nuclear test ban treaty is signed by Dean Rusk, Gromyko and Lord Home.

At Chilham Castle we see Prime Minister Harold Macmillan walking amongst the crowds. Commentator says "most people thought he looked better - that Profumo business, surely, had blown over." General view of Stratford-upon-Avon. People enter polling station and vote for new MP after resignation of John Profumo (scandal is somewhat glossed over here). New MP Angus Maud leans over a gate and chats to a constituent. Lord Denning sits at a desk shuffling papers. People are squashed in queue to buy Denning's report at midnight. General view of King Edward VII hospital. The Queen gets out of a car to visit Macmillan who sent his resignation from there. We see his successor, Sir Alec Douglas-Home outside No 10 Downing Street.

American bombers in flight. Bombs are dropped on Florida bombing range and explode prematurely, wrecking the aircraft. L/S as blazing aircraft heads towards ground and pilot uses ejector seat. Pilot of Sky Warrior crash lands on US carrier Coral Sea after breaking her nose wheel. M/S of pilot Commander Morris after the landing. British Vertical Take-off plane P-1127 seen in flight at a Paris air show then crashes to the ground. Air to air shots of the Trident VC 10 in flight. Shots of the German mine where men were trapped. Released men walk down some steps.

President John F Kennedy and wife Jackie walk across the lawn of the White House in Washington, accompanied by officials. Commentator opines "To the assassination of President Kennedy we are still too close to measure the consequences". High angle view looking towards St Matthew's in Washington on day of Kennedy's funeral. Shot of the coffin being carried. Jackie Kennedy stands with her children; John Jnr salutes. Jackie lights the eternal flame at the Arlington cemetery then is escorted away.
