The text is concerned with the nature of justice and Plato argues for the position that the life of the just person is better than the life of the unjust person. We discuss the challenge that Thrasymachus poses to Socrates, Plato’s methodology, and the link he draws between political systems and kinds of personality. We end by focusing on Plato’s views on the psychology of the democratic person and the tyrant.
