Geisterfahrer - Wasser (1980) German Post Punk / Experimental"The Hamburg band "Geisterfahrer" was founded in 1979 by Matthias Schuster (guitar, synthesizer, beatbox), Michael Ruff (vocals), Holger Hiller (violin, guitar)) and Hans Keller (violin, guitar).
The first single "Geisterfahrer" was released in 1979 on the legendary Hilsberg label ZickZack. The band then changed labels and released the LP "Schatten voraus" on the rival label in the summer of 1980. In changing line-ups, a total of seven albums were released until 1989. After that, it became quiet around the band and the various musicians were active in other bands. Matthias Schuster in particular has been active in numerous other projects: "Bal Paré", "In the Name of the People", "Ritual" and currently "The Institute".
In 2005, the CD "1979-1989" was released as an extensive compilation of the early years, the first single was re-recorded and there was even a performance after 15 years of live abstinence."
