Darker and more experimental than their debut, Soup moves between psychedelic-folk textures and raw alt-rock energy—hear it on the hushed, country-tinged “Toes Across The Floor,” the abrasive, unsettling “Mouthful Of Cavities,” and the motorik drive of “Galaxie.”
It reached No. 28 on the US Billboard 200 and had sold around 217,000 copies in the US by October 1996. Promotion for the album was cut short after lead singer Shannon Hoon died on October 21, 1995, two months after the release.
