Gwen McCrae’s “Rockin’ Chair” is a great soul song that charted in it’s day in the ‘70s, but also spawned a charting rap hit in the ‘90s. Can you name all the songs used in this sample chain?

RIP to Gwen who passed away last week, aged 81. Lots of great music to explore in her discography. Will be playing some today on my Tuesday Morning Coffee live stream.

For this video, I used clips from the sampled songs/artists along with a live DJ clip I recorded Feb ‘23, where I’m rockin’ (ha) double copies of the 7” single of “Rockin’ Chair” (as well as one extra…). Fun one to juggle! Give it a try, the 7s aren’t too hard to find… the pattern is pretty tough tho 🫡
