Status Quo – Picturesque Matchstickable Messages From The Status Quo 1968 (UK, Psychedelic,Pop Rock)

The debut studio album by the British rock band Status Quo, released in 1968. Before the album's release, the band released three singles. The first single was supposed to be "Gentleman Joe's Sidewalk Café" with "Pictures Of Matchstick Men" as a b-side. However, as Rossi said in an interview, at the last moment it was decided to swap the tracks. The single reached number seven in the UK chart, and is also the band's most successful in the US, where it reached number 12. The second single, "Black Veils Of Melancholy", failed to chart. And the third, "Ice In The Sun", reached number 8 in the UK and 29 in Canada. A fourth single, "Technicolour Dreams", was originally planned, but the band decided to scrap it in favor of releasing the non-album single "Make Me Stay A Bit Longer" in early 1969. The album itself was released on September 27, 1968. The record received good reviews in the press and sold well, but did not chart.
