So I was on Facebook and saw that SSSniperwolf is super upset that Trent Reznor didn't play "Closer" at a live show, recently. So I got to thinking, what do we owe our fans? What do they "owe" us? Do we owe each other anything?
The short answer; neither side really owes anything to the other, but there is some space inbetween for a mutual respect.
And no, telling a band that you want a refund because they chose to not play a song is not respectful.
So, anyway, this is my take on that. I have to be clear, SSSniperwolf is totally entitled to her opinion, but that's the thing -- entitlement. The second that artist OR fans get enveloped into entitlement, things get messy.
So, just be cool with each other, huh? That's really all we can ask anymore.
