Recently in Urumqi, Xinjiang, a “pet dog” that had been raised for 3 years turned out to be a wild wolf and was transferred to a wildlife rescue center. Three years ago, Mr. Tu rescued an injured pup he found with a broken leg after a car accident. Thinking it was just a stray puppy, he took it home and named it “Xiang Xiang.” But as it grew bigger, things got weird — Xiang Xiang started eating up to 1 kg of meat in a single day and would sometimes let out howls that sounded eerily wolf-like. Suspicious about its increasingly wild behavior, Mr. Tu eventually decided to call for help, confirming his pet wasn’t quite what he thought!
