@dariashapovalova #fashionforpeace
My name is Daria Shapovalova and I am the creative director of Kiev Fashion Week, International fashion event happening twice a year in a capital of Ukraine. Now my country is surviving a hardest moment in its history since its Independence, and people of my generation are suffering from political conflicts and war.
Seven years ago, when I started to work, my aim was to put Ukraine on world's fashion map and show everyone that our country has amazing talents in the fashion field. After all this years we see designers from Ukraine with their show in London, the are sold in great stores such as colette and Luisa Via Roma, 2 of our designers were chosen to be shortlisted for the LVMH prize and 1 designer from Ukraine won special award in Hyeres.
Every season we are showcasing our designers in Paris for the top buyers and journalists during Paris Fashion Week. During these years of hard work in promoting Ukrainian talents, we gained support from best journalists, editors and buyers. Many of them became friends. And we don't want this friendship and the results of our work to be ruined because of the current situation in Ukraine.
I don't know why my generation of clever, active, European and ambitious people, who love their country and things they do in their life, are surviving this tremendously horrifying events in Ukraine. It affects everyone and we are loosing the opportunities which can lead us to the better future. I want to ask everyone to understand, that the war should be stopped, no matter who is involved, who is right and who is wrong. We can't see people dying.
One year ago we created an ad campaign for Kiev fashion week where we used the national flag. We always wanted to show that being Ukrainian is cool and fashionable. So please, make fashion, not war. Fashion for peace. Please share this video, if you agree.
