
The Paris Opera announced on Wednesday, June 3rd the sudden passing of Principal Dancer Stéphanie Romberg, at the age of 50.
Born in 1975, Stéphanie Romberg trained at the Paris Opera Ballet School, joining the company in 1986. She was then hired by the Paris Opera's Corps de Ballet in 1991. Promoted to Coryphée the following year, she became Sujet in 1998 and Première danseuse in 2003. At the Paris Opera, Stéphanie Romberg skillfully performed numerous roles from the classical and contemporary repertoire and took part in important new works with choreographers such as Maurice Béjart, Mats Ek, Blanca Li, Edouard Lock, Jean-Guillaume Bart, Roland Petit, and Emanuel Gat.
