With Heisman finalist CJ Stroud sitting courtside, the Irish shook off a shaky start that saw a pair of thunderous 1st quarter dunks by Blazers 5-star prospect Isaiah Elohim to claim a 29-27 halftime lead. Bronny James, the son of the Lakers star, would be held scoreless in the opening half and finish the night with just seven points and one made field goal.
Three-point shooting would help fuel SVSM (4-1) in the second half, as they would lead by as many as nine points and never allowed star-studded Sierra Canyon (7-2) to get closer than three points in the final frame. Kevin Hamilton would play a huge role for the Irish down the stretch with both scoring and ball handling to earn Most Valuable Player honors.
