I chose Pigments by Arturia for the job because it offers analog modeled oscillators and filters which are perfect to nail this gritty timbre for this type of sounds.
Starting with the analog engine and because it's a pseudo Moog Model D oscillator bank we can use it to create a beefy and gritty analog style FM sound by modulating oscillator one with oscillator three. Both oscillator should be set to ramp up and oscillator three should be a couple of octaves lower than oscillator one, just like what you would do on a Model D.
For the squelch part I used a bipolar triangle LFO with a rate of 2 bars to modulate the global coarse pitch of the synthesizer by a value of one bar in each direction.
When it comes to filtering, I kept it simple by using Pigment's multimode bandpass 24db/oct filter but you can try other types of filters to get different timbres from the same patch. I've also modulated the filter just a tiny bit with the second random modulator to give the patch a slight random movement feel.
Now all what you need to do is play the patch with some delay on top of it.
