This set is all about the tracks released in 1989 or just before. This was a fantastic year for Dance music with a lot of the underground sounds making it into main-stream charts and onto the radio.

This was the start of a dance music obsession for younger kids who couldn't get into the underground clubs and parties, because of the wider exposure on main stream airwaves. For a lot of kids back then it was the only way to hear tracks by these artists. MTV were still relatively new and not that big in the UK and albums like Deep Heat were just starting to emerge and become commercially accessible.

The influence of the US was still in full effect with acts like Mantronix and Milli Vanilli hitting the charts hard. Sydney Youngblood's blatant rip-off of Raze's, "Break for love," reached number 3 in the singles chart!!!!

Inner City were about to dominate the dance chart and release a series of singles still being remixed and played today.

D-Mod were featuring artists like Cathy Dennis and even the likes of The Blow Monkey were featuring the vocal talents of Kym Mazelle. The UK still had its'work cut out to make its own impact on this even growing scene. This came in the form of Cold Cut who were first to feature a singer that went on to enjoy a successful Solo career in her own right. We still love you Lisa!!!
