August, 1967.It was the Summer of Love and Melody Maker ran an article about the music that the hippies and the people from the underground scene in the UK were listening to. In order to find out about the music they were digging, they got in touch with the people from the London boutique Granny Takes a Trip. This was probably one of the earliest mentions of bands such as the Velvet Underground and the 13th Floor Elevators in the british press.
At the time, the two top underground bands in the UK were Pink Floyd and Tomorrow.
