Hello internet, let's make a pitch sweep but with a twist.

The pitch sweep must be one of the most common sweep techniques out there, you just need to modulate the pitch of an oscillator from low to high or vice versa, and you're done. It's efficient, gets the job done, and has been used in countless records.
But what if we took this simple sweep and pushed it a step further, making it... 10x juicier? I'll be using Sylenth1 for that, but you can use the Virus or any other type of VA Synth.

I like to start with a saw wave playing a low note (I pitched the oscillator 3 Octaves down) and I've filtered it using a bandpass 24db/oct filter that I set to a higher frequency with a healthy dose of resonance. Personally, I like to modulate the pitch of the oscillator in the opposite direction of the filter's cutoff frequency, so if I'm modulating the oscillator from low pitch to high pitch, the filter will go from high frequencies to lower ones (basically, I'll close the filter). To achieve these modulations, I used the Mod Envelope that I set to slow attack and full sustain (I've set the attack slow enough to last around 4 bars).

Now it's time to spice up the sound and get the juiciness out of it. To do so, I first added a good amount of distortion (I went with the overdrive algorithm, which sounds super unique in Sylenth1, especially with high resonance values on the filter) and I fed everything to Sylenth1's phaser, which gives the patch its juicy character. For the phaser, I've set the frequency somewhere around 2/3 clockwise, but you can set it to taste. My general rule with Sylenth1 is that the frequency of the phaser will follow the frequency of the filter, so in this case, we will modulate the frequency of the phaser in the same direction as the filter using the same mod envelope, and we will also add a tiny bit of modulation from the internal LFO of the phaser, which is set to a slow rate to make things move a bit. As for the spreading of the phaser and its feedback, I've set them to taste, but it's always better with high feedback values.

And here you go, a super juicy pitch sweep with a flexible patch full of sweep spots. Enjoy it with a good delay.
