*MGMs systems went back to normal on the 21st of September, 10 days after the breach was announced*It has been revealed that the initial breach occurred due to a ‘vishing’ attack that enabled threat actors to deploy ransomware, which impacted many of MGM’s systems and allowed the attackers to exfiltrate terabytes of data.
The attack serves as a reminder of the continued prevalence and threat of Ransomware-as-a-Service (RaaS), as well as the huge consequences that can emerge from a social engineering attack.
