I wrote this about the death of Queen Elizabeth the 2nd in the immediate aftermath of the event ' i wrote another few songs about the queens passing they're on hard drives i'll have to dig em out ' and i thought i'm going to upload this one again in time for st georges day for all the patriots out there to sing along to if you wish ' i deliberately put the words in the video from inception as the song has always had a terrace sing song vibe so play it loud at your celebration rallies or house partys etc the chord structure i used for this has a rising ascendent structure and it really lifts the song throughout it keeps ascending and it has the potential to be a rousing football terrace song or something like that ? all the words are there you can sing along anywhere you want to ' be proud . i'm a proud brit . its why i wrote this :) the use of the uk flag is just to convey a strong british identity to this song . Nothing says i'm a Brit louder than the union jack so theres no other connotation to that ' its purely symbolic :) The title EXPIRED is not saying England is done ' although half the population are of that frame of mind in 2025 EXPIRED refers to Queen Elizabeth the 2nd's passing . and london felt very dystopian for about a month after the passing of .. The QUEEN .. thats what its about really.
I have like a lot of people in the uk ' mainland european heritage and relatives so i'm not 100% english at all ' i was born in scotland and have english heritage as well so i'm a fully qualified BRIT .
The song is also a nod to one of my favourite artists from these isles #morrissey If he ever gets to hear this England and yourself inspired this song .
